Fins is a small and authentic family run surf school with a dedicated team of salt water specialists, passionate about surfing, having fun, and the Cornish coastline we’re proud to call our home.
We offer lessons to all ages, levels and abilities. Fins is a specialist surf school focussing only on surfing. This means we can ensure you get the most from one of our expert surf coaches during your session and that your lesson is suited to your ability and tailored to you.

Surfing made easy
Surfing with Fins is super easy. You can book and pay in advance completely hassle free using our smooth online booking system.
On the day of your lesson you can park in one of the public carparks directly behind our facility. Once parked up you can get changed in the comfort of our heated changing rooms. (We’ll provide all your equipment for you).
We’ll then walk 2 - 5 minutes to the surf (depending on what spot you choose) and be shredding before you’ve had a chance to say Surfsup.
Our easy going approach eliminates any stress and hassle from your surfing experience. All you have to worry about is turning up and bringing your smiles as we guarantee you have a fun time!

Fins is nestled in-between Fistral Beach and Newquay bay. No matter what the surf conditions on the day you’re scoring good waves that are well matched to your ability.
Both beaches are less than a 5 minute walk from our heated changing facilities and are surrounded by cafes and eateries so you’re never more than a stones throw from the action, whether surfing or spectating.
Learn from the experts
Fins owner, Sam Harwood is a competitive surfer currently ranked in the top five in the UK and a previous GB surf team member. Sam has chosen to shift his competitive energy to surf coaching to share his passion for the ocean with others.
Our team of salt water specialists are all qualified beach lifeguards and experienced surfers. We aim to provide an unforgettable surfing experience in a safe, fun and friendly environment.
Your safety is our number one priority during our lessons and we pride ourselves on the experience, knowledge and passion of our instructors.
We’ve been surfing on Cornish shores since we were whipper snappers and lifeguarding the Newquay beaches for over a decade so we know the Cornish beaches and seas like the back of our hand.
